Tengku Muhammad Ismail appointed Terengganu Regent

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, has consented to appoint his son, Yang Dipertuan Muda Terengganu Tengku Muhammad Ismail, as Regent effective Wednesday (April 15).

Terengganu Royal Assembly Council secretary Datuk Azmal Azaddin said the proclamation ceremony for the Regent’s appointment was held on Sunday (April 12) at Istana Terengganu in Kuala Lumpur.

"The appointment is made as the Sultan will be resting from all official duties and engagements on the advice of medical officers,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

Azmal said in view of this, the 64th birthday celebration of the Sultan of Terengganu, scheduled for April 26, along with all related ceremonies, events and programmes, would be postponed to a date to be announced later. — Bernama
