Forest fire in Batu Caves

KUALA LUMPUR: A forest fire broke out on the hillside of Bukit Batu Caves, blanketing the area in smoke.

The fire was spotted by residents of nearby Taman Industri Bolton, around 10.30am on Friday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Mohd Sani Harul said they received a distress call around 10.42am.

"The first fire engine arrived at the scene about seven minutes later.

"The fire is about 60 metres above the ground so we have also sent a water tanker," he said when contacted on Friday.

It is believed that the fire may have been due to the recent dry and hot weather.

A spokesperson for the Fire department also said the fire is under control and there no reports of injuries or casualties.
