A SPATE of operations was carried out across Rawang and Gombak as local authorities intensified enforcement against foreign traders and hawkers for violating municipal bylaws.
At the Pasar Borong Selayang, enforcement officers seized goods belonging to a foreign trader.
In a statement, the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) said action was taken under the Licensing of Trades, Businesses and Industries By-Laws 2007.
In a separate operation in Rawang, authorities confiscated items from several foreign traders selling flower garlands.
MPS said the seizure was carried out under the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974. During the operation, two unlicensed dogs were impounded.
In Taman Sri Gombak, the local authority issued one compound and two notices to roadside hawkers found causing obstructions, in addition to carrying out 15 inventory seizures.
“The action was taken to address obstruction and ensure orderliness in public areas.
“All trading activities must comply with regulations to avoid enforcement action,” MPS said.
A similar operation was conducted at Jalan Batu Muda Tambahan 1 in Kampung Batu Muda Tambahan, Kuala Lumpur.
In a statement, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) said enforcement action was taken against the operator for erecting temporary structures and tents to run a makeshift eatery.
“This is the second operation against the premises, which has been operating without a development order from DBKL.
“It is an offence under the Federal Territories (Planning) Act 1982 (Act 267).
“A notice was already issued on July 8,” DBKL said, adding that the operator had already removed some items.
During the operation, DBKL seized four tents, 10 lamps and six wire connectors.
DBKL said it would continue monitoring the area and carrying out enforcement operations.
