AN international chain has launched its new 205-room hotel in Permas Jaya, Johor.

GreenTree Hotel Johor Baru marks the first facility by the GreenTree Hospitality Group (GHG).

The company is ranked among the world’s Top 10 hotel groups by number of hotels.

GHG chairman Alex Xu said the property enjoyed direct access to the Eastern Dispersal Link, with the Johor Baru city centre, Johor-Singapore Causeway and the city’s main commercial and retail districts just minutes from the hotel.

“The development of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and the forthcoming Johor Baru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link are expected to further strengthen demand in the corridor.

“Johor Baru is the right place to begin GreenTree’s journey in South-East Asia,” he said during the hotel’s opening ceremony.

Located in eastern Johor Baru, the hotel offers a 600-seat ballroom, five meeting rooms, an infinity pool with pool bar, a gym, a business lounge and cafe.

Xu thanked hotel owner and developer Malpakat Group for its confidence in the GreenTree brand.

The hotel is operating under a licensing agreement with Holiday Villa Hotels and Resorts, a Malaysian international hospitality group and GHG’s appointed licensee in Malaysia.

“Malaysia is our gateway to South-East Asia.

“Kuala Lumpur is the next priority for the GreenTree brand, and our partners are evaluating opportunities in other major Malaysian and regional cities,” Xu added.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was officiated by Xu alongside Malpakat Group chairman Tan Sri Daing Malek Daing Rahaman, Malpakat Group managing director Char Hon Loong and Holiday Villa Hotels and Resorts chairman Tan Sri Azman Shah Haron.

Char said the group has owned the 357-room Holiday Villa Johor Baru City Centre since 2016 and GreenTree Hotel Johor Baru was its second hotel.

“The new hotel reflects Malpakat’s long-term commitment to Johor and to hospitality as a core business.”
