LAMBORGHINI Club Malaysia (LCM) donated two new dialysis machines worth RM80,000 to Lam Wah Ee Hospital as part of its annual charity initiative.
Club president Andy Cheeng said this year’s donation drive focused on providing dialysis machines to non-profit organisations and dialysis centres giving free services to the public.
“Every year, we have a different focus for our charity activities.
“This year, we found that there is a greater need for dialysis machines in society.
“We felt it would be a great deed for the club to donate the machines and help reduce the burden on the public,” he said after a handover ceremony.
Cheeng said the club had donated a total of eight new dialysis machines this year, with the other six going to different dialysis centres in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Melaka.
He said each machine cost about RM40,000, bringing the total value of the eight machines to RM320,000.
“We chose Lam Wah Ee Hospital in Penang after studying its background and learning about its work as a non-profit organisation and efforts to provide free medical services,” he said.
He added that funds for the charity initiative were raised internally through contributions from club members and proceeds from its charity events.
The club, with about 100 members and officials, is approaching its third year of operation.
Cheeng said this was the club’s second consecutive year of conducting a charity initiative in Penang.
“Last year, we donated cash to the Majlis Perundingan Muhibbah Negeri Pulau Pinang.
Earlier, Cheeng met the hospital board chairman Datuk Tan Yew Thong and the management team. In his speech, Tan expressed his appreciation to the club for the donation.
Also present were Batu Lanchang assemblyman Ong Ah Teong and LCM northern chapter committee member Tan Wei Yoong.
