SMK Putrajaya Presint 16 (1) earned overall champion honours at the 2026 Putrajaya Schools Sports Council (MSSWPP) Hockey Tournament when both its Boys’ and Girls’ Under-18 teams captured their respective championship titles.
The Boys’ Under-18 team successfully defended their title, securing their third consecutive MSSWPP trophy with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over SMK Sultan Alam Shah in an exciting and closely contested final.
The Girls’ Under-18 team matched the boys’ success by defeating SMK Putrajaya Presint 5 (1) 1–0 in a thrilling final, completing a memorable double triumph for the school.
The tournament was held at the Tengku Abdullah Hockey Stadium in Bangi, Selangor, bringing together the best school hockey teams from across Putrajaya.
SMK Putrajaya Presint 16 (1) also swept the individual awards.
In the Girls’ Under-18 category, Auni Qisya Imizam was crowned Top Scorer, while Farah Adriana Fairuz received the Best Player award.
In the Boys’ Under-18 category, Syed Danial Alif was named Best Goalkeeper and Danny Rayan Firdaus earned the Best Player award.
Head coach Noor Akmaniah Arwae expressed her pride in both teams and commended the players for their discipline, determination, focus and unwavering fighting spirit throughout the tournament.
“Our success was built on months of hard training, consistent performances and maintaining our momentum throughout the tournament,” she said.
The celebrations were made even more memorable with the announcement that 10 players from the Boys’ Under-18 team were shortlisted for the Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM) selection camp.
The outstanding achievement reflects the school’s commitment to sporting excellence and the dedication of its coaches, players, parents and supporters, the head coach said.
The double championship further strengthens the reputation of SMK Putrajaya Presint 16 (1) for running one of the premier school hockey programmes in Putrajaya and serves as an inspiration for aspiring young athletes.
