CHEFS are delving into treasured family recipes to showcase Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage in conjunction with National Day.
At Midtown Brasserie, Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur, the Warisan Malaysia limited-edition dining experience presents a taste of diverse local dishes under one roof.
Hotel executive chef Jona Juchli said each chef will bring their own cultural background, experiences and family recipes into the kitchen.
“Warisan Malaysia is our way of showcasing the incredible talent within our team through dishes that are deeply personal to them,” he said.
Among the highlights are linopot – a traditional Kadazandusun speciality from Sabah – and midin belacan from Sarawak featuring tender wild jungle fern shoots.
The Peranakan kitchen features comforting favourites like duck and vegetable soup itik tim, jiu hu char, a stir-fried shredded jicama and dried cuttlefish dish, and ayam pong teh which is chicken braised in fermented soybean paste and spices.
Vazhaipoo Poriyal is a South Indian-style stir-fry of banana blossoms.
Malay heritage dishes taking centre stage include Rendang Pucuk Ubi, combining cassava leaves in rich rendang flavours, and Kerutuk Ayam Dara – chicken cooked in fragrant spices and coconut-based gravy.
The buffet also features regional favourites such as Nasi Kerabu, Nyonya Curry Laksa, Nasi Kukus Beras Wangi, Chicken Dum Briyani, Lamb Dalcha, Malaysian beef soup and satay.
The culinary journey extends to traditional Malaysian beverages, with nostalgic favourites like Nyonya cendol, teh tarik, kopi tarik, Penang Ais Tingkap and Sarawak’s Ais Gula Apong, alongside South India’s Jigarthanda.
The buffet (RM168nett per adult and RM109nett per senior citizen) is available on Aug 28, Sept 4, Sept 25, Oct 2 and Oct 30, from 6pm to 10.30pm.
