MORE than 600 participants took part in the inaugural Larian Cergas Parlimen 2026 which brought together members of the public and Parliament for a 5km fun run around Parliament Building in Kuala Lumpur.

It was flagged off from the main entrance by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul and Dewan Negara president Senator Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah.

It was part of efforts to promote the national fitness agenda and the “Merakyatkan Parlimen” initiative.

The event created an opportunity for closer engagement between lawmakers and citizens.

At the event, Parliament also announced plans to expand the initiative to all 222 parliamentary constituencies in phases through the “222 MY Cergas Parlimen Hybrid Run.”

The initiative is aimed at encouraging healthy living at the grassroots level, with the involvement of MPs in supporting community well-being in their respective constituencies.

The programme is also expected to support Parliament’s effort to seek a Malaysia Book of Records recognition for a national-level fitness initiative involving all MPs.

The event was co-organised by Parliament and My Creative Moments.
