THE horizon off the coast of the Labuan International Sea Sports Complex turned into a theatre of human endurance as over 5,000 converged for the Labuan International Sea Challenge (LISC) 2026.

The maritime event began when the heavy engines of the Deep Sea Fishing Challenge rumbled into the distance, signalling a week where the ocean served as playground and adversary.

But as the days unfolded, the focus shifted to the sun-drenched shoreline, where the Regatta Race 3.0 painted the waves with the colourful sails of 72 young athletes navigating 11 gruelling categories for a share of the RM32,885 prize pool.

Nearby, the water churned under the blades of the Kayak Mini Marathon participants during a 7km sprint that served as a prelude for the main event.

Capturing the spirit of LISC was the Round Island Kayak Challenge, where 104 paddlers embarked on a gruelling 51.2km journey under a tropical sun to encircle the island.

As the LISC drew to a close, the sea sports complex stood as a testament to the spirit of sportsmanship.
