OVER 150 top-performing staff were honoured at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Excellent Service Award Ceremony (APC).

Award recipients were 147 officers and staff including 25 who would be retiring this year.

In addition, two outstanding contract-for-service (CFS) appointees and five individuals who received the Mayor’s Special Award were also honoured at the event.

Recipients of the APC, outstanding CFS and mayor’s awards each received RM1,000 and a certificate of appreciation.

The retirees were each presented with RM400, a token of appreciation and an umrah package for Muslim employees or travel vouchers for non-Muslims.

Selangor State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, Petaling Jaya mayor Datuk Mohamad Zahri Samingon and deputy mayor Aznan Hassan were present at the event.

Among those honoured were APC award recipient and recently retired Management Services Department senior assistant director (assets and supplies) Ahmad Johari Saleh, recently retired Landscape Department senior assistant director (landscape) Nurbaiti Abd Wahab, Mayor’s Special Award recipient Development Planning Department deputy director (urban development and design control division) Mohd Bakri Salleh and APC award recipient Corporate Communications Unit assistant director (public relations) Ahmad Iskandar Mohamad Mukhtar.

“The event is a platform for MBPJ to express appreciation to the employees for their excellent performance throughout 2025,” MBPJ’s Corporate Communications Unit said in a media statement.

“We are also celebrating the services and contributions of retirees who have contributed greatly to the development and excellence of the organisation.

“This initiative serves to encourage employees to increase productivity and maintain high quality service levels, thus strengthening the people’s confidence in the public service delivery system.”

In his speech, Mohamad Zahri said that such recognition played a role in cultivating excellence and increasing the professionalism of civil servants.

He said MBPJ was also committed to ensuring efficient, transparent and effective service delivery, guided by the vision of making Petaling Jaya a sustainable and happy city.

“To realise this aspiration, MBPJ has outlined key strategic thrusts, including strengthening integrity governance, empowering smart city initiatives, sustainable development, improving community well-being, stimulating economic growth and developing high-performance human capital.

“This success depends on the commitment and cooperation of all MBPJ employees.”
