The “Together for Health” campaign at Cheras LeisureMall Kuala Lumpur provided training in CPR and AED emergency response skills to some 800 participants.

The two-day community health initiative brought together healthcare professionals, public health authorities and community partners in a collaborative private-public effort to promote preventive healthcare, well-being and emergency preparedness.

It aimed to bring health education closer to the community while encouraging people to take steps towards improving their physical and mental well-being.

The CPR and AED training programme was carried out in nine sessions, over two days.

It was designed to equip the public with practical emergency response skills and confidence to act during critical situations.

The event was launched by Alliance for a Safer Community (Ikatan) chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, who toured the health and awareness zones while engaging with participating healthcare organisations and community partners.

“We must create a nation where every citizen has the confidence and willingness to respond during an emergency,” said Lee during his speech.

“Just as we teach road safety and fire safety, we should make CPR and AED awareness a part of everyday life.

“The public must be empowered and encouraged to learn these essential lifesaving skills – not only for strangers, but for the people closest to us.

“The more people who possess these skills, the safer our communities become,” Lee noted.

The campaign was organised by PPB Properties, in collaboration with Selangor Health Department (JKNS) and Selangor Committee on Resuscitation Training (Scort).

Supporting the initiative were nearly 100 healthcare personnel and volunteers from JKNS and the Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya Health Department.

These personnel were involved in the CPR and AED training sessions, health screenings and healthcare education.

Beyond emergency preparedness, the weekend-long event adopted a holistic approach to community well-being.

Visitors had access to a wide array of health topics, including health screening services for blood sugar, cholesterol checks and mental health consultations, eye health awareness activities, specialist sharing sessions, rehabilitation product showcases and wellness-focused engagements for children and adults.

The event attracted some 1,500 participants.
