HOMEOWNERS in Jalan Lang Perut Putih 6, Kepong, are urging Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to expedite plans to upgrade drains in their back lane.
They said parts of the drain had collapsed, causing water to seep underground and weakening soil integrity around their homes.
Community activist Yee Poh Ping, speaking on the residents’ behalf, said he had submitted the request to DBKL last year.
The back lane links about 30 terrace houses in the housing estate which Yee said was more than four decades old.
“City Hall has given its assurance that works will be undertaken, but it has yet to identify a start date,” he said.

Meanwhile, drains at the Jalan Lang Perut Putih 7 back lane have been upgraded by City Hall.
According to news reports, the project cost RM400,000.
Yee said the upgrading project started last July and was completed in September.
“We hope City Hall will look at the back lanes of Jalan Lang Perut Putih 6 too.”
On a related matter, some residents voiced concerns over the poor state of streets in the neighbourhood.
Yee urged DBKL to resurface the roads which were uneven and riddled with potholes.
