KLANG Royal City Council (MBDK) wants prospective traders to settle all compounds before applying for Ramadan bazaar lots in the city.

MBDK Corporate Communications director Norfiza Mahfiz said interested traders must first settle any outstanding compound.

“Those with arrears will be barred from trading,” she said, adding that traders had until Feb 3 to send in applications.

This year, MBDK is allocating 1,405 Ramadan bazaar lots in 23 locations.

Bazaar sites are in Taman Sri Andalas, Simpang Empat in Teluk Pulai, Kampung Meru and Lorong Musran in Rantau Panjang, among others.

Norfiza said eligible traders would have lots determined by ballot, while application fees have also been set.

“For stalls selling cooked food on night market trading bays, the fee is RM310.

“The fee is RM350 for stalls not operating on night market lots,” said Norfiza.

She said the fee would go towards rubbish collection and cleaning services.

MBDK has allocated 343 lots for this year’s Aidilfitri bazaar in Jalan Taiping, which will be distributed through a bidding system.

“For lots selling clothes, artificial flowers, decorations and cookies, applicants may submit higher than starting bid prices to secure a stall.

“Bidding starts at RM2,450 for all lots and there is no maximum bid limit set,” Norfiza said.

Restaurant operators near Ramadan bazaars urged MBDK to coordinate traffic to reduce congestion, and strictly monitor for unlicensed traders.

The bazaars are expected to run from Feb 18 to March 19, from 4pm to 8pm.
