Bachelor finds right home at the right price under state affordability initiative
IT WAS a dream come true for Muhamad Hariz Abdul Manad to finally be able to purchase a home.
The 42-year-old, who is in the sales line, secured an 83.6sq m condominium unit under the Rumah Selangorku affordable housing scheme.
“The unit, priced at RM250,000, is near my elderly parents’ home in Shah Alam.
“Some of my siblings also secured units, and we are happy to finally own our own properties.”
The bachelor said he heard about the development from his parents who noticed ongoing construction.
After further enquiries, he was convinced a unit would be a good buy despite being under a 99-year lease.
Muhamad Hariz was among those who received their offer letters for the units at the closing ceremony of Selangor Property Expo 2025 organised by Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS) at Central i-City in Shah Alam.
Selangor housing and culture committee chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah, who presented the letters, said the state expected an additional 10,895 units under the housing scheme in 2026.
This will bring the total to 91,599 units, towards the state’s projection of 200,000 housing units by 2029.
Borhan said the expo helped the public learn about developers, policy implementation efforts and the latest housing projects such as Selangorku 3.0, Selangor Smart Rental Scheme (SSS) and rehabilitation of abandoned projects.
“Every young Selangorian should be able to own a property, and through Selangorku 3.0, we provide value for money, such as two years of free maintenance, free legal fees and the transfer of ownership,” he said.
Also present were Shah Alam mayor Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim and LPHS executive director Datuk Juhari Ahmad.
