JOHOR BARU: Johor will receive RM216.44mil under the Housing and Local Government Ministry’s Development Programme for the First Rolling Plan of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) to strengthen housing development, public amenities and community well-being in the state.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming announced the allocation during his two-day working visit to Johor under the Sentuhan Kasih KPKT 4.0 programme at Taman Ungku Tun Aminah flats here on Thursday (June 25)
He said the allocation demonstrated the government’s continued commitment to improving the quality of life of Johoreans through better housing and public infrastructure.
“This RM216.44mil allocation proves the government’s continuous commitment to ensuring that the people of Johor enjoy access to quality housing, comfortable public facilities and a more sustainable and prosperous living environment,” he added.
He said the allocation would fund a wide range of strategic initiatives, including public housing development, strata housing maintenance, community safety, public amenities, solid waste management, urban and rural development, and programmes aimed at improving community well-being.
“A substantial portion of the funds will be channelled towards affordable housing initiatives such as Rumah Malaysia (Disewa), the People’s Housing Programme (PPR), the People’s Residency Programme (PRR), the Madani Inclusive Housing Development Programme (PIM), the Housing Maintenance Programme (PPP), the Malaysian Housing Maintenance Fund (TPPM) and the Rumah Mesra Rakyat programme.
“The ministry will also finance upgrades to public facilities and community infrastructure, including public markets, Madani stalls, drainage systems, public toilets, recreational parks, fire stations and housing estate maintenance works to enhance the comfort, safety and quality of life of residents across Johor,” he added.
Nga said the ministry would continue to work closely with the Johor government and local authorities to ensure that all approved projects were implemented effectively.
“We will continue to strengthen strategic cooperation with the Johor government and local authorities to ensure every project is carried out efficiently, transparently and with high impact for the benefit of the people,” he said.
