RESIDENTS near Jalan SS2/45 and Jalan SS2/49 in Petaling Jaya, Selangor are urging the local authority to upgrade a field there.

They said the field was large enough to accommodate additional recreational and sports facilities.

Speaking on behalf of the residents, community activist Yee Poh Ping said the field was currently underutilised.

“It needs a running track, outdoor fitness equipment and a children’s playground.

“I hope the authorities will allocate funds to improve it.”

Yee also called for lighting to be installed to enable the public to use the facilities safely at night.

He proposed adding pickleball, badminton and basketball courts as well as a designated area for group exercise activities.

“Benches should also be installed so visitors have a place to rest,” said Yee, adding that he had submitted a letter to Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) on the matter.
