Speed, power on show at S’wak regatta

Spectacular displays of teamwork and determination were seen at Sarawak Regatta in Kuching, with over 60 teams vying for prizes.

The annual regatta – a centuries-old tradition dating back to the Brooke era in 1872 – continued to unite people of diverse backgrounds through sportsmanship and cultural pride.

The multi-day event which included the Sarawak International Dragon Boat Regatta, drew participants from across Sarawak and neighbouring countries.

The highlight was the fierce battle for the prestigious King of the River title, which was won this year by Sarawak Land and Survey Department (Landas).

Spectators also enjoyed side events like the Brooke Swim, Raft Tug-of-War, and duck catching, alongside vibrant waterfront markets showcasing Sarawak’s crafts, food and culture.
