RM207mil for road maintenance works in Perak for 2025

IPOH: Some RM207mil has been allocated by the federal Public Works Department (JKR) for road maintenance works across Perak this year, says Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin (pic).

The Perak infrastructure committee chairman stated that the allocation was for pavement maintenance work, which costs approximately RM173mil, and non-pavement maintenance work, which costs approximately RM33mil.

Mohammad Nizar said the state has actually submitted applications for road maintenance works that cost about RM728mil.

"About RM601mil is for pavement maintenance works and RM127mil for non-pavement works.

"We can only conduct the maintenance works with the amount that has been approved and allocated by the JKR,” he said in his reply to Steven Tiw Tee Siang (PH–Tronoh) during the question and answer session at the Perak state assembly sitting today (Sept 9).

For the Tronoh state constituency, Mohammad Nizar said that RM2.69mil was approved this year for pavement maintenance on Jalan Jelapang–Ipoh–Ayer Tawar, while RM4.93mil was approved for the same stretch in 2024.

"Based on the Malaysian Road Records Information System (Marris) record, Tronoh has received a total of RM1.45mil in allocations this year.

"These include maintenance works on Jalan Batu Gajah, Jalan Gopeng, Jalan Pusing-Kampung Gajah and Jalan Tronoh-Tanjung Tualang," he said.
