Residents in 21 Ampang Jaya, Selangor homes were slapped with compounds for mosquito breeding grounds found at their premises.
The enforcement action was taken after an operation at three residences where a dengue outbreak had been detected, namely Flat Pandan Mewah, Sri Pandan Condominium and Hatta Square.
Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ), in a statement, said more than 970 premises were visited with 220 thoroughly inspected.
“This operation was carried out jointly with the Hulu Langat district health office and focused on searching and destroying potential mosquito breeding grounds.
“Compounds were issued under Section 74 of the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171),” it said.
During the operation, 23 additional compounds were also issued to owners of abandoned vehicles.
Residents are advised to carry out gotong-royong to ensure their premises are free of stagnant water, added MPAJ.
Separately, several faulty streetlights under Sepang Municipal Council’s jurisdiction (MPSepang) have been repaired.
In social media statements, the council said inspections were carried out in housing and commercial areas near Puchong and in Cyberjaya.
The areas were Desa Seri Vista, Taman Meranti Jaya 2/5 and Jalan Putra Prima in Puchong, as well as Persiaran Garden Residence and Persiaran Harmoni in Cyberjaya.
Repairs were undertaken between June 3 and 5.
MPSepang said its Engineering Department was alerted through reports lodged via the Public Complaints Management System (SISPAA).
“Contractors were asked to carry out repairs. Inspections found the streetlights are operational and in good condition,” it added. — By FARID WAHAB
