SEPANG Municipal Council (MPSepang) is in the final stages of its preparations to host several events for the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2026.
The Games is set to take place in Selangor from Aug 15 to 24.
MPSepang president Dr Ani Ahmad said all arrangements are on schedule.
The six sporting venues that came under MPSepang’s jurisdiction are Stadium Mini BBST@Sepang (men’s football), Universiti Putra Malaysia Stadium (athletics), Dewan Sri Sarjana, Universiti Tenaga Nasional (pencak silat), Stadium Institut Penilaian Negara (archery) and Rekascape Cyberjaya (highway cycling) along with Velodrom Nasional Malaysia located near the Sepang border with Nilai, Negri Sembilan (trek cycling).
“We are focused on upgrading the sporting facilities and supporting infrastructure, including playing fields, running tracks, lighting systems, pedestrian walkways, parking facilities and amenities for persons with disabilities.”
Ani said MPSepang was working closely with other relevant agencies to develop comprehensive traffic and transport management plan.
“Entry and exit routes to competition venues, parking areas, directional signage and traffic management measures have all been planned to facilitate the efficient movement of athletes, officials and spectators.
“Sukma 2026 will not only showcase sporting excellence but also serve as a platform to inspire young people to embrace healthy lifestyles, develop sporting talent and cultivate discipline,” Ani said.
She said the games would also generate significant economic benefits for local businesses, hotels, restaurants, transport operators and the tourism sector.
