Johor government has supplied six new ambulances to public healthcare facilities in the state to strengthen emergency response capabilities and improve access to medical services.
State health and environment committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said four vehicles were handed over to health clinics in Kota Tinggi (Bukit Waha), Tangkak (Sungai Mati), Batu Pahat (Semerah) and Mersing (Tenggaroh 2).
“The remaining two will be handed over to Hospital Sultanah Aminah (in Johor Baru) soon.
“The ambulances were allocated from the state’s coffers under the 2026 Johor Budget, where RM1.6mil was set aside for intensive care unit beds and ambulance purchases.”
Ling said the allocation was based on the specific needs of individual facilities and the communities they served.
He said the Sungai Mati health clinic, which was among the busiest in Tangkak, faced high demand for ambulance services, particularly for emergency cases.
“The clinic previously had only one ambulance, which had started experiencing breakdowns.
“Adding another ambulance is important to ensure effective emergency coverage for the community.”
Ling said patients in Semerah had to rely on an ambulance dispatched from nearby Bagan health clinic previously, so the new vehicle was expected to speed up emergency response times.
“The ambulance at the Tenggaroh 2 health clinic is especially significant in view of Mersing’s long travel and patient referral distances, while the unit at the Bukit Waha health clinic will serve residents across Felda Bukit Waha, Felda Simpang Waha and Felda Bukit Easter,” he added.
