RESIDENTS in Johor’s Perling constituency can now seek assistance for local issues even after office hours, thanks to a new community service centre that operates by appointment.

Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP) councillor Nicol Tan Hiang Kee, who runs the centre, said the service was aimed at offering greater flexibility to working adults requiring assistance who are unable to do so during regular hours.

She said the initiative was about improving access and inclusivity.

“Many people do not have time to visit government offices during the day.

“By offering after-hours appointments, we are ensuring no one is left out of the support system.

“Before opening this service centre, I went on house visits to assist residents or met people at eateries, so having a dedicated space is a big improvement,” she said during the centre’s launch.

Tan, who is also Johor MCA liaison committee publicity bureau chief, said she was now able to assist voters more efficiently at the service centre.

MCA Youth chief Ling Tian Soon, who launched the centre, said the initiative reflected continued community engagement efforts in the area.

“Despite setbacks in the last election, we remain committed to serving the people.

“Defeat has never been a reason for us to abandon our responsibilities and this has always been MCA’s principle,” he said, adding that such service centres were critical.

The service centre is located at the new shoplots behind Jalan Persisiran 1 in Taman Perling.
