SEPANG Municipal Council (MPSepang) now has its first woman president.

Dr Ani Ahmad, the former Ampang Jaya Municipal Council president, was sworn in at MPSepang headquarters in Cyberjaya, Selangor, at 2.30pm on Monday (July 7).

She said she would need between one and three months to familiarise herself with the municipality and to assess the issues it faced.

Of hand, she said she would continue to uphold the vision and mission of the municipal council.

"The vision includes making MPSepang a clean, green, sustainable and smart municipality,” she said after the swearing-in ceremony at MPSepang headquarters in Cyberjaya, Selangor.

Ani also said there would be stark differences in managing developments between Ampang Jaya and Sepang.

Ampang Jaya, she said, was densely developed with pockets of projects and ongoing issues related to hill slopes.

In contrast, about 50% of the land in Sepang was undeveloped, while existing developments were better organised, she added.

Before helming MPAJ, Ani was the district officer of Hulu Langat.

She has a PhD in Human Resources Development from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2015.

Prior to that, she obtained a bachelor's and a master's degree in Urban Studies and Planning from Universiti Malaya in 1999 and 2001, respectively.
