MB: Selgate hospitals to strengthen Selangor healthcare

THE launch of the new Selgate Specialist Hospital in Rawang marks the start of a state-backed hospital network designed to reinforce Selangor’s public health ecosystem and meet demand.

Launching the facility, Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the hospital addresses a surging demand for specialist medical services in Selangor’s booming northern corridor, reported Bernama.

Amirudin said the 224-bed hospital would not only meet the needs of private healthcare, but also be part of the state government’s efforts to expand health benefits to the people.

“Hospitals like Selgate will complement the needs.

“We are not only focused on making profits from this health activity or business but also returning it to the people through services provided,” he said during the opening ceremony.

Selgate is a wholly owned subsidiary of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS).

Amirudin said profits generated would be channelled back to the people through various existing health welfare programmes such as Iltizam Selangor Sihat (ISS) and Selangor Saring.

Amirudin said Selangor led the nation in developing a complete “care economy” ecosystem.

Looking ahead, he added that the healthcare group planned to open its second facility in Sepang this September, followed by Selgate Specialist Hospital Setia Alam in February 2027.

It is scheduled to partner with Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sungai Buloh campus to develop Integrated Cardiac Services, featuring state-of-the-art facilities like a catheterisation laboratory (cath lab) for faster heart treatment.
