SEPANG Municipal Council (MPSepang) will begin enforcement action against 58 unlicensed factories operating at Meranti Utama Industrial Park in Puchong, Selangor.
MPSepang deputy president Muhamad Shah Osmin said the factories were previously given time to apply for business licences following an inventory exercise earlier this year.
However, he said, the grace period has now ended.
“MPSepang will begin issuing notices to compel compliance and licensing.
“The purpose of these licences is not only to generate revenue for the council but more importantly, to regulate the factories’ operations.
“We must ensure that all factories meet the requirements of the relevant agencies, including the Fire and Rescue Department, the Environment Department and utility providers,” he told StarMetro after the local council’s full board meeting.
Separately, Muhamad Shah said MPSepang had increased its vehicle towing operations.
“The operations, which targeted cars that obstructed traffic or posed safety risks, were carried out between January and August this year.”
He said a total of 1,990 vehicles were towed in that period.
These included 1,797 in Cyberjaya, 147 in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi and 46 in Dengkil.
“MPSepang collected RM437,800 in towing fees and RM159,200 in related fines, totalling RM597,000,” said Muhamad Shah, noting that 2,086 towing cases were recorded in 2024.
He said the opening of the local council’s third vehicle depot in Dengkil earlier this year had strengthened enforcement efforts.
“The other depots are located in Cyberjaya and Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi.”
Each depot can accommodate between 15 and 20 vehicles, but operations remained efficient due to the high turnover rate, he added.
