KL varsity leads in digital education

UNIVERSITI Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Information Technology (UniKL MIIT) has topped 42 faculties to win the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) Premier Digital Tech Institutions (PDTI) Outstanding Faculty Award 2024.

The win, which comes with a cash prize of RM8,000, cemented its leadership in Malaysia’s digital tech education, UniKL MIIT said in a media statement.

It also highlighted UniKL MIIT’s consistent delivery of high-impact publications, effective knowledge transfer programmes and an industry-focused curriculum, it said.

As a driving force in the digital age, UniKL MIIT continued to lead advancements in digital education, the statement added.

UniKL MIIT’s participation in the Premier Digital Tech Institution (PDTI) Deans and Head of Departments Meeting Q1 2025, held at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s Anjung Digital Smart Selangor, exemplified UniKL MIIT’s commitment to collaboration and influence in shaping Malaysia’s digital future, the statement said.

Its groundbreaking approach to digital tech education, recognised by the MDEC award, underscored UniKL MIIT’s commitment to innovation and student success, it added.

MDEC, with the support of Higher Education Ministry, has spearheaded the PDTI initiative since 2017 to bolster Malaysia’s digital tech industry.

Receiving the award on behalf of UniKL MIIT was its head of Industrial Linkages, Nurdatillah Hasim.
