As the seasons in other parts of the world change, so do makeup trends, which has a ripple effect on the rest of the globe.

Check out the latest trends to make waves in the beauty industry.

Stick eyeshadow

Nothing against palettes, but stick shadows are a trend that has been on the rise for the past few years, with tons of brands offering various products.

They promise highly pigmented colour minus the mess, with clump-free and effortless application.

All you need to do is glide the stick across your eyelids, forming a sideways V-shape on each eye, the connecting point forming on the outer corner.

Apply the darker contour shade to the outer third area of your eye, forming a sideways V on each eye, with the connecting point forming on the outer corner of your lid.

After applying the colour onto your lids, blend it in with your fingers.

Straight eyeliner

Dutch model Imaan Hammam, the global brand ambassador for Estee Lauder, recently made an appearance at the Met Gala in an eye-catching golden ensemble with impeccable makeup to complement her look.

In a press release from the brand, makeup artist Nadia Tayeh explained the thought process behind her makeup.

“For Imaan’s makeup look by Estee Lauder, we drew inspiration from the iconic elegance of the ancient Egyptian queen Nefertiti. We accentuated the eyes with an exaggerated straight liner, complemented by super golden bronzy skin, channelling a Sun Goddess,” she said.

The takeaway from this is Hammam’s striking eyeliner, drawn out from the corner of the eyes in a straight line, almost to the hairline.

It’s a great way to give your look instant drama with not much effort, and it can be achieved with most eyeliners – just make sure they are waterproof so that the line doesn’t melt down your cheekbones when you start sweating.

Cheek canvases are a must, as they help add a lift to your face and give your overall appearance a brighter and fresher vibe.

The latest blush trend to explode in the world of beauty is sunset or golden-hour blush, inspired by beautiful summertime sunsets.

It features a gradient of colours and highlighter that mimic the sun setting in the sky by blending shades like orange, coral, pink and red, according to Glamour.

Depending on your skin tone, you can also look out for hues like terracotta, as well as warm chocolates and soft corals.

To achieve this look, make one dot of each colour right above your cheekbones, and blend out one shade at a time using a brush.

Satin lips

While matte colours are still very much in trend for lips, if you prefer a more glossy look, worry not because there are plenty of options out there.

Think clean, comfy lipstick with formulations that include nourishing butters to give your lips that satiny smooth, creamy, weightless colour.

Look for lip colours that hydrate as well as make your lips look fuller, in cherry, red, hot pink and maroon shades.

You can also look at pale pinks and nude hues, and layer gloss on top of lipstick for that extra shine.

Thin eyebrows have had their moment, and while it’s still a popular look for certain occasions, bushy, healthy brows are taking centre stage right now.

If you have naturally thick brows, lucky you! If you don’t, there are lots of gels and serums out there that claim to help thicken brows.

Look for formulas that contain castor oil, and there are also eyebrow growth serums which often contain ingredients such as peptides, amino acids, keratin and biotin, meant to stimulate growth.

You can also look for tinted mousse-gels that you can swipe across your brows to give them an airy, feathery appearance.
