For many guests at the gala night of Star Media Group’s (SMG’s) year-long 50th anniversary celebrations, it was their first time heading out to an event after over a year.
It was for this reason that they decided to make the most of it, turning up at the black-tie event, held at the Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur on Nov 9, in gorgeous gowns, beautiful traditional wear, quirky yet chic ensembles and subtly sophisticated dresses.
Guests, who wore masks throughout the event (except during solo photo-taking and dinner), made it a point to add emphasis to their eye makeup, with several ladies going all out with shimmery shadow.
The sit-down dinner, held in appreciation of SMG’s long-standing business partners and stakeholders, was attended by several VIP guests, including transport minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong and communications, multimedia minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa as well as longtime supporters of The Star.
Greeting the guests were SMG chairman Tan Sri Chor Chee Heung, chief executive officer (CEO) Alex Yeow, chief content officer Esther Ng as well as editors and managers from SMG’s various departments.
Long gowns were a popular choice for the event, with many guests decked out in shimmery sequins and embellishments to match their glittery jewellery.
Many donned chic satin dresses with slits in various colours, pairing their outfits with strappy heels.
Some were more experimental, like lawyer Siti Kasim who paired a silver flapper skirt with a black lace top, and Aeon Group Malaysia CMO Low Ngai Yuen who chose a white suit to go with a white lace top.
Traditional dress is always an acceptable option, and several guests donned elegant kebayas complemented with chic selendangs, while others chose batik.
Singer Misha Omar, who serenaded guests with several popular tunes, paired a blazer with a trendy pantsuit while personalities from the 988 radio station, who also performed that night, went all out in gowns in various colours.
