Dr Wee hails Star Media Group as a 'media behemoth' on its 50th anniversary


PETALING JAYA: The Star Media Group (SMG) has come a long way in its 50 years of existence to the media giant it is today, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The Transport Minister was at SMG's 50th Anniversay Gala Night, held at the Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday (Nov 9) and congratulated the group on reaching this "historic milestone".

"Attending Star Media Group's 50th Anniversary in Shangri-La KL tonight. Congratulations to Star Media Group on the occasion of your historic milestone. Your journey from a humble newspaper to become a media behemoth has been nothing less than exemplary.

He also thanked Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa for opening the ceremony as well as SMG chairman Tan Sri Chor Chee Heung for playing host.

"Wishing SMG another 50 years of success and we all look forward to and support your continuing mission to inform, inspire and innovate for your readers nationwide and beyond," he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
