Garden of tea, floral delights in the city

Flower Society Afternoon Tea at The St Regis Kuala Lumpur.

A SPECIAL afternoon tea reminiscent of 19th-century social gatherings awaits at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

The Flower Society Afternoon Tea at The St Regis Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with acclaimed Malaysian fashion house Rizman Ruzaini, blends the best of the culinary and couture worlds.

At the heart of this collaboration is a collection of floral motifs – orchid, rose, dahlia, camellia, lavender and hydrangea – rendered in edible form and served at The Drawing Room until Sept 25.

This afternoon tea experience reimagines the legacy of Caroline Astor, mother of John Jacob Astor IV who founded The St Regis New York.

Central to her world was the Astor Garden where elegant gatherings were held amid curated florals.

The menu by executive chef Norazizi Taslim and pastry chef Azizul Bistaman is a series of refined courses, delicate textures, sculptural beauty and botanical notes.

The first course is presented gracefully wrapped in a furoshiki scarf, a Japanese custom.

Next, guests are offered a cookie puzzle printed with bespoke motifs which they are encouraged to assemble and savour.

Lastly, exquisite floral pastries and warm, buttery scones are served.

The experience, priced at RM198 per adult and RM99 per child, is served from noon to 6pm daily.
