Get a taste of a hotel’s iconic afternoon tea ritual inspired by the layered landscapes of the Perdana Botanical Gardens in Kuala Lumpur.

The Botanist’s Study Afternoon Tea by The St Regis Kuala Lumpur translates the gardens’ nine distinct environments into edible “specimens” of flavour, texture and form.

Each creation is crafted through the lens of a botanist — an immersive examination of nature expressed with precision, restraint and quiet artistry.

Presented within a botanical laboratory setting complete with magnifying glasses, petri dishes, conical beakers and specimen vessels, the experience transforms afternoon tea into a refined sensory journey where science, nature and culinary craftsmanship converge.

Afternoon tea has long been one of St Regis’ most cherished rituals, shaped by a legacy of timeless elegance and cultivated social grace.

At The Drawing Room, delicate savouries, sculpted pastries and thoughtfully composed infusions unfold as a multi‑sensory interpretation of the natural world.

The collaborative menu by executive sous chef Mohd Sakhawi and executive pastry chef Azizul Bistaman reflects a shared culinary philosophy rooted in observation, precision and interpretation.

“We approached this experience as a dialogue between science and artistry, where each creation is shaped by precision and imagination,” said Azizul.

“Our intention is to transform the familiar ritual of afternoon tea into something quietly extraordinary, expressed through texture, form and refined flavour.”

The savoury selection features refined compositions of poached prawn, smoked duck croquette and earthy beetroot.

Pastry creations draw inspiration from the colours, textures and beauty of nature.

Freshly baked plain and hazelnut‑raisin scones are also served, with mixed berry jam and clotted cream.

The Botanist’s Study Afternoon Tea is available daily, from noon to 6pm, until June 30.

It is priced at RM208nett per adult and RM108nett per child.
