MMU and ZTE to empower human capital growth by launching “MMU NexGen Communication Engineering Hub”

KUALA LUMPUR: Multimedia University (MMU), a renowned institution for its excellence in education and research and ZTE Corporation, a global leading provider of information and communication technology solutions announced an ambitious collaboration in Cyberjaya to launch “MMU NexGen Communication Engineering Hub”.

The landmark collaboration was officiated by Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Communications and Digital YB Teo Nie Ching at MMU Cyberjaya Campus on Oct 17.

During the launch ceremony, YB Teo inaugurated the event by presenting a commemorative plaque, symbolising the beginning of this transformative journey.

In her officiating speech, YB Teo emphasised the significance of this partnership, stating, “This visionary initiative holds the key to sculpting the future of telecommunication talent development in Malaysia.”

This collaboration encompasses a comprehensive Next-Gen Communication talent development programme that spans the students' entire university education and extends support into their post-graduate employment.

It includes scholarships, tailored lecture syllabi, research projects, immersive internships, and promising job opportunities.

Under the partnership, MMU and ZTE established three cutting-edge laboratories, namely, the "NexGen lab," the "IDEAS lab," and the "Inspire and Innovate lab," representing a new era in telecommunication research and development.

The "MMU NexGen Communication Engineering Hub" is guided by four key pillars: enhancing students' professional skills, nurturing creativity and passion, generating high-quality research and development projects, and encouraging greater industry participation.

The collaboration represents a significant leap toward nurturing the next generation of communication engineers and innovators, driving innovation, fostering talent, and accelerating the evolution of the telecommunication industry in Malaysia.

President of MMU Prof Dato' Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su'ud said, “We are honoured to host this project in MMU. We’re confident that our collaboration will empower more Malaysians for success.

“MMU NexGen Communication Engineering Hub showcases our commitment to deliver top-tier education and research. This collaboration will provide students with the resources, mentorship, and opportunities to excel in telecommunication industry.”

ZTE Executive Director and Executive Vice President Gu Junying took pride in ZTE’s partnership with MMU as it underscores ZTE's unwavering commitment to nurturing telecom talent, essential for driving industry advancement and innovation.

Through the research hub, ZTE is making significant investments not only in the future of the telecommunications industry but also in advancing digital innovation and progress, in support for Malaysia's Madani policy framework.
