AN Indian student has been selected for the final round of the Anugerah Tokoh Siswa Negara 2026 competition, Malaysia Nanban reported.
Thanikes Kumar, 22, a fourth-year electronic engineering undergraduate from Multimedia University, is the only Indian student among the 10 finalists.
Hailing from Puchong, Thanikes is the youngest student to become president of the university’s student representative body.
He has helped organise, host and participate in more than 200 local and international student events.
The university also recognised his leadership by presenting him with an excellence award in 2025.
His father, Kumar, 64, is an e-hailing driver, while his mother, Una, 56, is a homemaker.
Thanikes has pursued excellence throughout his education and is an example to other students, the daily said.
