Eogene and Ling Ching win first senior international titles

PETALING JAYA: Singles shuttlers Eogene Ewe and Wong Ling Ching celebrated double joy by capturing their first senior international titles at the Slovenian Open.

In the men's singles, Eogene, who turned 20 in February, fought hard to defeat South Korea’s Yoo Tae Bin 21-19, 12-21, 21-17 in an hour in Maribor on Sunday (May 18).

The 21-year-old Ling Ching also celebrated after beating Indonesia’s Deswanti Nurtertiati 21-16, 21-15 in the women's singles in the International Series event.

Despite being a lower-tier competition, the victories will boost both youngsters, who are eager to continue their good form at the Austrian Open starting on Thursday (May 22).
