PETALING JAYA: Doubles shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani came close to completing a glorious day for Malaysia at the Denmark Open before falling short in the quarter-finals.

The professional pair raised hopes of making it a clean sweep for Malaysian doubles after taking the opening game against China’s Liang Weikeng-Wang Chang, but eventually went down 21-18, 18-21, 15-21 at the Jyske Bank Arena in Odense on Friday (Oct 16).

Weikeng-Wang Chang will take on Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian-Shohibul Fikri in the title match.

Earlier, Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik (men’s doubles), Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah (women’s doubles) and Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing (mixed doubles) had all booked their places in the semi-finals to make it a memorable day for Malaysian doubles in Odense.
