Historic feat: Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah needed just 37 minutes to overcome China’s Bao Lijing-Cao Zihan at the Jyske Bank Arena in Odense.

PETALING JAYA: National women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah secured a historic victory on Saturday (Oct 17), defeating China’s Bao Lijing-Cao Zihan to become the first Malaysian doubles pair in 18 years to reach the Denmark Open final.

The world No. 5 pair needed just 37 minutes to overcome the sixth-seeded Chinese duo 21-16, 21-14 at the Jyske Bank Arena in Odense.

The last local pair to reach the finals were Chin Eei Hui-Wong Pei Tty in 2008, who went on to win the title.

Standing in the way of second seed Pearly-Thinaah recreating that achievement will be a Japanese pairing, either Hinata Suzuki-Nao Yamakita or seventh seeds Sumire Nakade-Miyu Takahashi.
