Pang Ron-Pei Jing fall short in Denmark

Painful loss: Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing can take heart from another strong run, having reached their second semi-final of the year.

PETALING JAYA: Professional mixed doubles pair Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing’s Denmark Open campaign ended in the semi-finals on Saturday (Oct 17), with the Malaysians falling to world No. 1 Feng Yanzhe-Huang Dongping in Odense.

The top-seeded Chinese duo needed just 36 minutes to beat the world No. 51 Malaysians 21-13, 21-13 at the Jyske Bank Arena.

Despite the defeat, Pang Ron-Pei Jing can take heart from another strong run, having reached their second semi-final of the year following their breakthrough at the China Masters last month, where they finished runners-up.

Yanzhe-Dongping will be chasing their fourth Denmark Open title in five finals when they face compatriots Jiang Zhenbang-Wei Yaxin in a repeat of last year’s final.

The second seeds booked their place in the final after overcoming eighth seeds Cheng Xing-Zhang Chi, also of China, 17-21, 21-12, 21-13 in 55 minutes.
