Strong families build strong communities

BETTER Dads Malaysia (BDM) welcomes the recent call by the Malaysian Bar urging the government to make family mediation a compulsory first step in addressing marital conflict amid rising divorce rates in Malaysia. We also affirm the Federal Government’s commitment to placing families at the centre of development, recognising that strong families are foundational to a resilient, ethical, and mentally healthy society.

The steady increase in divorce rates is not merely a legal or procedural issue – it is a social, emotional, and mental health challenge with far-reaching consequences for spouses, children, and communities. When marriages break down without adequate intervention, children are often the silent casualties, experiencing emotional distress and long-term mental health risks.
