Can Malaysia save a national symbol from poaching and trade?


EARLY this month, Malaysia lost yet another wild tiger. Awang Rasau, as it was named, succumbed to the terrible damage inflicted by eight bullets, believed to be the work of poachers.

When there are so few left, every loss is an immense blow. Malaysia is thought to have fewer than 200 tigers left in the wild and Awang Rasau’s death has sounded another death knell for the species here.
