The footage showed disturbing behaviour that alarmed commuters and staff at the busy terminal.

Police are investigating an incident involving a local man who acted aggressively and made obscene gestures at the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) bus terminal on Friday (Oct 17).

Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said his department received a report regarding the incident from a 37-year-old local woman on Saturday (Oct 18).

"The incident also went viral on the X application and the suspect, who is believed to have been intoxicated, punched a mirror and kicked a bus door," he said in a statement.

"The suspect also made threatening remarks because he could not board a bus at the terminal," he added.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 505 of the Penal Code and if convicted, the offence can be punished with imprisonment of up to two years or a fine or both, if the threat does not involve causing death, grievous injury or damage to property.

However, Raub said if the threat involves death, grievous injury or damage to property by fire or dishonouring a woman, the punishment can be up to seven years' imprisonment or a fine or both.

"The case is also being investigated under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 and if convicted, a fine not exceeding RM100 can be imposed," he said.

"Members of the public who have any information related to the incident can contact the Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Headquarters (IPD) hotline at 07-2182323 to assist in investigations," he added.

"Johor Bahru Selatan police will continue to ensure public safety is always maintained and will provide further information when investigations are completed," he said.
