Verdict:

TRUE

Kota Kinabalu acting OCPD Supt Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman said five local men had been arrested in the city for allegedly committing mischief, causing damage and criminal intimidation on Saturday (March 28).

He said the victim, a 30-year-old teacher, had lodged a report claiming that several men chased him and acted aggressively at 1.45pm.

"According to the report, the victim was walking towards his car, which he parked near a courier company, where the men, believed to be workers of the company, were waiting," he said.

Police believe that there were provocations involved before the situation became tense and worsened, he said.

Supt Syed said the suspects were believed to have damaged the vehicle's windows and threatened the victim, asking him to get out of the car.

He said the suspects were arrested and a probe is underway.

"We will investigate this case transparently and urge the public to refrain from spreading unverified information or making any speculations which could jeopardise our probe," he said.
