Is it true that a lorry struck a parked car while attempting an illegal U-turn in Sungai Buloh?
Verdict:
TRUE
Due to a wrong turn, a large lorry struck a car parked on the roadside while trying to make a U-turn on Jalan Hospital in Sungai Buloh on Monday (Sept 29).
A video of the incident then went on to go viral on social media.
"Upon arriving at Jalan Hospital, the driver realised they had entered the wrong road before trying to make a U-turn," said Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor in a statement on Tuesday.
"However, while reversing, the lorry hit a car that was parked on the side of the road, causing damage to both vehicles," he said, adding that no injuries were reported.
"The drivers of both vehicles involved came forward to make a police report at the Sungai Buloh District Police Headquarters Traffic Station on the same day," said Supt Mohd Hafiz.
"The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
He then advised the public to always be careful and obey road signs to prevent similar incidents from recurring, and asked that members of the public who had any information regarding the incident to come forward.
He said they should contact the Traffic Investigating Officer, Sarjan Azizul Azrin Bahro, at 013-675 6317 or the Sungai Buloh District Police Headquarters Operations Room at 03-6156 1222.
