PIDM advances resolution resilience through three key initiatives

KUALA LUMPUR: Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) announced three initiatives at its Industry Dialogue with member banks to strengthen member institution preparedness to support PIDM in a resolution.

The initiatives comprise the Resolvability Assessment Framework (RAF), a cooperation agreement with Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet) and PIDM’s inaugural Data Pulse publication.

“These initiatives mark the next phase of PIDM’s resolution readiness efforts under the PIDM Corporate Plan 2026-2028, “ said PIDM chief executive officer Afiza Abdullah.

“Together, they strengthen member institutions’ resolution resilience by supporting orderly resolution through clearer expectations, stronger collaboration and better data.

“This is not only about having the ability to undertake resolution actions, but also the credibility to execute them effectively when needed.”

The RAF aims to enhance member banks’ resolvability by setting clear expectations that will enable more structured engagement on resolution preparedness.

The PIDM-PayNet cooperation agreement complements this by supporting continued access to critical payment infrastructure during resolution, which is an important enabler of effective and orderly resolution.

Data Pulse further strengthens these efforts by providing data-driven insights into household financial well-being, savings and resilience to support informed policy-making and a more resilient financial system.

“Resilience is a collective endeavour. Prepared institutions, informed policy and collaborative infrastructure belong to one national resilience agenda and I am genuinely pleased to see PIDM bring them together,” said Deputy Finance Minister Liew Chin Tong, in his keynote address at the dialogue, where he also launched Data Pulse.

The dialogue also featured the launch of the ‘RAF intelligence’, RAFi, an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled tool to help member banks navigate resolvability requirements, followed by an expert panel discussion to support industry readiness ahead of the RAF’s implementation.

PIDM’s Industry Dialogue is an annual forum with senior leadership of member institutions to discuss industry developments, emerging challenges and areas of collaboration to strengthen resolution resilience. A separate dialogue with insurer members was held on Sept 23.
