Police are on the hunt for three individuals suspected of assaulting a man, following a video of the incident that went viral on social media on Thursday (July 17).
Seberang Perai Selatan (SPS) OCPD Supt Jay January Siowou reported that a two-minute, five-second video was discovered on TikTok.
It shows a man being beaten and forced into a four-wheel-drive vehicle by three male suspects.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident took place at 7.16pm on July 16. It is believed to have stemmed from allegations of jewellery theft involving the victim," he stated.
In the video, the three men are seen punching and kicking the victim on the head and body without using any weapons before forcing him into the vehicle.
The victim, who sustained head and facial injuries, received medical treatment at a hospital.
Police have also detained the victim to aid investigations into the alleged theft, and he has been remanded for four days until July 20.
The police are urging members of the public with information about the incident to contact the investigating officer, Insp Sarina Mohd Adam, at 017-291 2781 to assist with the investigation.
