WITH the Agong's Birthday and the Wesak Day replacement holiday falling back to back this week, Malaysians with pending immigration matters will want to plan their visits carefully.
Two consecutive public holidays in a single week is not an everyday occurrence, and the question of whether government counters will be open has been on many minds.
Will Immigration Department close their counters for two days next week?
Verdict:

TRUE
All Immigration Department counters, including those at Urban Transformation Centres, will be closed on Monday (June 1) and Tuesday (June 2).
The department confirmed in a social media post on Friday (May 29) that the closures were in conjunction with the Official Birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on June 1 and the Wesak Day replacement holiday on June 2.
"All counters will resume operations on Wednesday (June 3)," it said.
The Official Birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is one of five mandatory paid public holidays that private sector employers must grant workers in Peninsular Malaysia, including the Federal Territory of Labuan, according to the Human Resources Ministry.
Wesak Day falls on Sunday (May 31), entitling employees to a replacement holiday on Tuesday, in accordance with current provisions under the Public Holidays Act 1951.
Malaysians with urgent immigration matters are advised to plan accordingly and return on Wednesday when full operations resume.
