A NOTICE claiming a planned water disruption across several areas of Johor Baru and Pasir Gudang has been circulating on social media and messaging platforms, prompting concern among residents in the affected areas.

The notice named several well-known neighbourhoods and claimed the cuts would last more than 24 hours.

Will there really be water cuts in Johor Baru and Pasir Gudang on July 4 and 5?

Verdict:

FALSE

Water operator Ranhill SAJ said the notice circulating on social media and messaging platforms was fake and had never been officially issued by the company.

The fake notice claimed there would be a planned water disruption from 9am on July 4 until 10am on July 5, citing maintenance works at a water treatment plant as the reason.

The areas falsely listed as affected included Pasir Gudang, Masai, Permas Jaya, Plentong, Tanjung Langsat and parts of Johor Baru.

Ranhill SAJ advised consumers against believing or forwarding unverified information and stressed that all announcements on water disruptions, maintenance works and supply operations would only be communicated through its official channels.

Consumers were urged to refer to the company's official platforms for accurate and up-to-date information on water supply matters, including through the MySAJ 2.0 application.
