QuickCheck: Is EPF allowing RM10,000 withdrawals from Dec 17?

SINCE May 12, 2024, Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributors have been able to use the new Account 3 to withdraw money for personal use.

However, a recent viral message claims that EPF has allowed another special withdrawal of RM10,000 from Dec 17.

Is it true that EPF contributors can make a special withdrawal of RM10,000 from their EPF accounts?

VERDICT:

FALSE

In a post on its social media channels, EPF said there was no such new withdrawal scheme for its contributors.

"Don't be fooled by misleading information circulating on social media. Ensure that the information you receive is valid," it said in a recent social media post.

EPF also urged its contributors to get authentic information only from its official website and social media accounts and not rely on viral messages.

Fake news debunking website sebernarnya.my also shared EPF's clarification.
