QuickCheck: Did the govt launch a limited-time EPF withdrawal programme?

A TikTok post claimed that the government has launched a programme allowing all EPF contributors to withdraw funds from their Account 1 (Akaun Persaraan).

The post said that the application period is only five days and that it is open to everyone, including housewives.

It said that all one needs to do to withdraw is to register through an included link.

Verdict:

FALSE

According to Biar Betul, the government had yet to launch such a programme.

They also investigated the uploader's identity and found it suspicious. The account had only posted unverified government programs.

Biar Betul also found that the link included takes those who click it to a possible phishing website that does not look like the real EPF site. The site was likely designed to steal personal information.

“Don’t be a statistics by getting your information only from official sources,” concluded Biar Betul
