QuickCheck: Did Mat Sabu urge civil servants to grow weed at home?

There is a lot of fake news out there. Some are so well crafted that it is difficult to tell if it is or false. Others are not so difficult.

Did Agriculture and Food Security Minister Mohamad Sabu tell civil servants to grow marijuana at home?

VERDICT:

FALSE

The minister denied the viral fake news on his Facebook account on Tuesday (April 14).

Mohamad condemned the fake post and said his ministry has lodged a report with the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) so action can be taken against those responsible.

"The public is advised not to share fake information and urged to check with official channels to get verified information," he said.
