FOR most parents, seeing their child dashing across a road would count as a moment where they'd drop everything and rush to save them from potential harm - putting their own life on the line if they have to.
Recently, a video went viral of a woman and a toddler being hit by car and it was claimed that the clip shows an incident of a mother in Sandakan trying to save her son after he dashed across a road.
Is this true?

This was confirmed by acting Sandakan district police chief Supt Ramasamy Kuppan, who said that they came to know about the case from a video that went viral on social media.
"We received the video at 5.45pm on June 10 regarding a road accident that occurred at Leila Road heading towards Tanah Merah Town in Sandakan, involving a car hitting two pedestrians," he said.
Supt Ramasamy said that the initial investigation revealed that the motorist was travelling from Sandakan town to his home in Kampung Gas.
He added that the motorist was driving at approximately 54km per-hour, based on the speed shown in the video, and could not avoid the victims due to the short distance.
In the one-minute video, the mother was seen chasing after her son who was running towards the other side of the road before they were hit by the car and thrown a few metres away.
Both victims fell to the road, and the motorist helped take them to the Sandakan Hospital for treatment.
"Both victims did not sustain serious injuries and received outpatient treatment at the Sandakan Hospital.
"They escaped with minor scratches on their bodies and were discharged at around 3pm the same day," said Supt Ramasamy.
He said the case is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division.
